Welcome to JoannaCassidy.org.  I am happy to have this site to share my work with you.  For those of you who have followed my career over the years or are just newly acquainted with my work, I've posted many of my favorite photos, that may have not been made public before.

The Filmography page includes artwork and detailed descriptions of the movies, as well as an opportunity to go into in-depth pages on movies with publicity stills, some peeks behind the scenes, and soon, a video clip of my favorite scene.  There is a Modeling page from my early days as a fashion model.  Some of you will recall those wild clothes, big eyelashes and unique hairdos!

Near and dear to my heart is the Activism page.  I love animals and there is so much we can do to help them.  A few years ago I was privileged to accompany "Flora", an African elephant who had been performing in a circus for 20 years, to her new home at the Elephant Sanctuary.  Watch her trip from Florida to Tennessee and find out what you can do to help the sanctuary.  I am also wild about birds.  Soon this site will include a very special person - "Doc" Lawrence, and his sanctuary of over three hundred parrots.

For those of you that are photography enthusiasts, I've designed a portion of my website for my own photography.  It is my passion and hobby, something I greatly enjoy.  I will be rotating the exhibit several times a year, and from time to time, offer my own prints for

sale in the Shop section.  I'd really appreciate your feedback on my photography.  In the Shop section you will also find my "Laugh" tapes for sale. They say "laughter is the best medicine" and I believe it's true.

Watch for Joanna in tonight's, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2012 episode of ABC's BODY OF PROOF. The plot on “Body of Proof” sounds familiar: A young mother goes free in her child’s murder, but the public says justice hasn’t been served. The script was “loosely inspired” by the Casey Anthony case, said Matthew Gross, executive producer of the ABC drama. ”The only similarity is a young woman accused of killing her child, and sympathy goes with the child,” Gross said. The episode, which airs at 10 p.m. Tuesday, quickly goes off on its own dramatic tangents. The mother is accused of dumping her 5-year-old son in a river, and a judge acquits her of murder. Oh, and the young mom is found dead two minutes into the episode. The episode, titled “Sympathy for the Devil,” focuses on the assumption of guilt and how the characters in the medical examiner’s office react to the slain, despised mother. “Everyone deserves due process. It doesn’t matter what she did,” Gross said. “Someone killed her. Our job is to figure out who did it and bring them to justice. Gross said he hopes star power bolsters the audience Tuesday. In addition, to Oscar winner Harden, the episode features Rita Wilson as the mom of the slain woman and Joanna Cassidy as the judge (and mother of Delany’s medical examiner). Gross stressed the main theme about this drama set in a medical examiner’s office. “Ultimately, the real message of the series is live every day,” Gross said. ”People in this business ask, ‘How do you write a show about death?’ It makes me appreciate every day I’m on the planet.”

Congratulations to Joanna for her Gemini Award nomination for her role as Rachel Blanchard in episode "Going Down Syndrome" on the Canadian HBO series CALL ME FRIZ. Joanna was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role or Guest Role in a Comedic Series. The Gemini Awards are presented over three nights - with industry awards on Aug. 30 and 31. The 26th Annual Gemini Awards gala airs on CBC Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 8pm ET.

Writers In Treatment presented its second annual Festival of Laughs and “Experience, Strength and Hope Award” presentation on March 8, 2011 at 7:30 PM at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA. Oscar winning actor and author Louis Gossett Jr. was the honored guest and award recipient. The “Experience, Strength and Hope Award” is given in recognition of an individual’s accomplishment in the arts, their enthusiasm for living a creative life and carrying the message of recovery to a society struggling with addiction. This award will was presented by Tony Denison, co-star of “The Closer”, with a special appearance by Joanna.

Joanna can be seen in the Canadian HBO series CALL ME FITZ, also starring Jason Priestley. The second season will premiere on DIRECTV's The 101 Network on April 21, 2011 at 9pm. You can watch for Joanna in three upcoming episodes this season. Click here for more info.

Joanna has joined the cast of ABC's new drama Body of Proof. Joanna has already appeared in the episode Society Hill, and you next next see her in the episode Buried Secrets.  She portrays Judge Joan Hunt, the mother of Dana Delany's medical examiner charater, Dr. Megan Hunt. The series premiered on ABC on March 29, 2011 and airs weekly Tuesdays at 10pm on ABC.

Joanna can be seen in the upcoming 2011 feature film release Carjacked, also starring Maria Bello. Check back for more details.
